28 Weeks

If you didn't notice it before, it's hard to miss now - my pregnancy belly has arrived!

Dave & I were at a furniture store today, and the saleslady approached us and started talking about cribs. I was amazed how she was reading my mind since I was looking for a crib mattress and a rocking chair for the nursery... and then I just felt silly. Of course she knew - I forget that my belly is so noticeable! I'm going to have to get used to this being public knowledge.

Still feeling good, though I am using about 5 pillows to sleep at night & am constantly getting overheated (it was warm here this weekend)!

Nursery Weekend

Last weekend, my folks came to visit to help get the nursery ready. My Dad lovingly painted almost the entire room by himself, while my Mom and I scouted garage sales (Dave was in class). My Mom diligently bought as many adorable clothes as possible to fill the closet, and we even found a dresser/changing table! Marley supervised the whole process, so he was pretty wiped out by the end of the day.
Doesn't the room look great?! We're really excited to get it all set up!

All Hail TastyKakes!

Oh my, behold the chocolatey goodness!

A little while ago, I received a box from a friend in VA. I was expecting it to arrive, but I wasn't expecting it to contain 2 boxes of delicious TastyKake chocolate donuts! In her infinite wisdom, Jamie tucked in a little treat for me as a surprise. For those of you who know about my TastyKake fetish, you can guess how excited I was. I shrieked, jumped up and down, and made so much commotion that both Dave & Marley came running. It was quite the sight!

And the funny thing is, Jamie didn't even know that earlier in my pregnancy I contacted the TastyKake company directly to arrange for chocolate donut shipments to my door. (They only sell their products in PA, MD, DE, NJ & northern VA.) I knew it was a long shot, but I thought they might take pity on me & my pregnancy cravings. No luck - I received a very polite "no," and have been forced to endure Hostess & Little Debbie donuts as a result (and trust me, there is NO comparison).

MANY THANKS to Jamie for such a blissful gift. Little Man Jones & I are enjoying our tasty treats immensely!

Down She Goes!

Also on Thursday... I passed out at work!

No kidding - I returned from my dr. visit and went straight into a meeting, and started feeling funny around 1:00 or so. I figured that I probably needed a bit of water or food, so I stood up to try to rush to my office and ended up fainting and running into the door. I woke up a few moments later just outside of my Executive Director's office (I was in his office for the meeting). I think I almost gave poor Tom heart failure!

But don't worry: my nurse says it's common with some pregnancies, and I'll just need to make sure I stay properly hydrated and fed. That was the first time I've ever fainted, so I'll be extra careful so I don't have to relive the experience. Though I definitely was the talk of the office - and now every time I'm in a meeting everyone makes sure I'm not going to fall out of my chair! Yikes!

All Is Well

My monthly check-up was Thursday, and the nurse said that all is well. Little Man Jones is growing nicely and his heartbeat is steady. And speaking of growing...so am I! The nurse weighed me, looked at my chart, and actually asked if she could weigh me again. I felt a little sheepish about it - I guess my weight jumped up quite a bit from my last visit (I haven't been paying attention, since I'm paying them to do that). But they said that's normal, so all is good! Next up: my exciting glucose test on May 4. I'll start going every 2 weeks after that...crazy!

Finally...We're Registered!

Wahooooo - we finished our baby registry! Though this isn't a big deal to most folks, it's a huge accomplishment for us. Dave and I aren't the world's greatest shoppers (okay, we'll be honest: the idea of required shopping usually sends at least one of us to whining). So imagine our faces the first time we entered Babies R Us...we were overwhelmed. Neither of us is too familiar with baby-stuff yet, so we both donned the deer-in-headlights look minutes after stepping into the store. We knew there would be quite a bit to choose from, but there are like 72 different kinds of bottles there!

So soon-to-be-Auntie Heather Redman came to visit this last weekend and rescued us. She helped me organize my list of must-haves and wants, and we set out on Saturday to get it done. We had lots of fun! Heather and Dave were hilarious in Target, racing around scanning cute little wall hangings and outfits. And Dave and I had a great time in Babies R Us learning about the Baby Bjorn - those things are amazing! He's currently looking for a backpack with a similar support system. :-)

So, we're registered! Here are the links to our registries:
