30 Weeks

I'm a bit late in posting this, but to I had to get it on here to keep up with my picture diary of my ever-growing belly. Here I am on May 17 at 30 weeks...and counting!

What a Party!

I SO enjoyed my first baby shower! My coworkers threw an amazing party. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful NHS family!

We had a great time: everyone brought in baby pictures and we tried to determine who was who; we guessed how many Q-tips were in the baby bottles; they gave me some great parenting tips; and each person made a card for our baby for his upcoming birthdays. And check out this amazing spread and beautiful cake!

Quite a few family members came to celebrate with us: my parents and grandma, and Dave's mom and sister Jessica drove from Twin Falls, and Dave's sister Jennifer took the afternoon off work. It was great to have them there!

And oh, the presents! We had a wonderful time opening the gifts (everyone was so very generous!) and someone even convinced Dave to give one of the hooded towels a try.

It was such a wonderful party - thanks again to Mary and Anne for making it happen!

My First Baby Shower!

Today is my very first baby shower! I've only been to two in my entire life, and now (three time's a charm) I'll get to go to my very own. The fabulous ladies at my work are throwing it, and I can't wait! I was actually wide awake this morning at 6:00 a.m. just thinking about it. I'm SO EXCITED! :-)

Happy Mother's Day!

Though our little one hasn't been born yet, Dave & I decided to celebrate this year (he says carrying around a child 24 hours a day should count for something). So for my first Mother's Day, he gave me a wonderful gift: he set up the nursery!

I walked upstairs Friday night and found a card on the nursery door. He had spent most of that day cleaning out the room, refinishing the crib, and putting the bedding together. It looks so wonderful! Now all we have to do is put a few finishing touches on it (window/wall hangings, etc.) and we'll be all ready to welcome Baby!

I Passed!

Hallelujah, I passed my glucose screen!

I had my appointment last Friday, and my doctor just confirmed that I don't have gestational diabetes (nor do I have to take the horrible 3-hour long test). Baby Boy's heartbeat is still strong, and she took some measurements and said I'm right on the mark. God really has blessed me with an uneventful pregnancy thus far!

Granny Phyllis' Rocking Chair

We found a rocking chair for the nursery!

I saw it on craigslist.com today and was certain that it would be gone by the time I could show it to Dave tonight, but it wasn't. We just got home from picking it up from Ellen, a wonderful woman who used it in her daughter's nursery.

It's such a beautiful chair, and it has a wonderful history. This chair belonged to Granny Phyllis (Ellen's husband's grandmother) from Roscoe, Montana. And now it will live at our house and we will rock our little one(s) to sleep in it. We love it!

28 Weeks

If you didn't notice it before, it's hard to miss now - my pregnancy belly has arrived!

Dave & I were at a furniture store today, and the saleslady approached us and started talking about cribs. I was amazed how she was reading my mind since I was looking for a crib mattress and a rocking chair for the nursery... and then I just felt silly. Of course she knew - I forget that my belly is so noticeable! I'm going to have to get used to this being public knowledge.

Still feeling good, though I am using about 5 pillows to sleep at night & am constantly getting overheated (it was warm here this weekend)!

Nursery Weekend

Last weekend, my folks came to visit to help get the nursery ready. My Dad lovingly painted almost the entire room by himself, while my Mom and I scouted garage sales (Dave was in class). My Mom diligently bought as many adorable clothes as possible to fill the closet, and we even found a dresser/changing table! Marley supervised the whole process, so he was pretty wiped out by the end of the day.
Doesn't the room look great?! We're really excited to get it all set up!

All Hail TastyKakes!

Oh my, behold the chocolatey goodness!

A little while ago, I received a box from a friend in VA. I was expecting it to arrive, but I wasn't expecting it to contain 2 boxes of delicious TastyKake chocolate donuts! In her infinite wisdom, Jamie tucked in a little treat for me as a surprise. For those of you who know about my TastyKake fetish, you can guess how excited I was. I shrieked, jumped up and down, and made so much commotion that both Dave & Marley came running. It was quite the sight!

And the funny thing is, Jamie didn't even know that earlier in my pregnancy I contacted the TastyKake company directly to arrange for chocolate donut shipments to my door. (They only sell their products in PA, MD, DE, NJ & northern VA.) I knew it was a long shot, but I thought they might take pity on me & my pregnancy cravings. No luck - I received a very polite "no," and have been forced to endure Hostess & Little Debbie donuts as a result (and trust me, there is NO comparison).

MANY THANKS to Jamie for such a blissful gift. Little Man Jones & I are enjoying our tasty treats immensely!

Down She Goes!

Also on Thursday... I passed out at work!

No kidding - I returned from my dr. visit and went straight into a meeting, and started feeling funny around 1:00 or so. I figured that I probably needed a bit of water or food, so I stood up to try to rush to my office and ended up fainting and running into the door. I woke up a few moments later just outside of my Executive Director's office (I was in his office for the meeting). I think I almost gave poor Tom heart failure!

But don't worry: my nurse says it's common with some pregnancies, and I'll just need to make sure I stay properly hydrated and fed. That was the first time I've ever fainted, so I'll be extra careful so I don't have to relive the experience. Though I definitely was the talk of the office - and now every time I'm in a meeting everyone makes sure I'm not going to fall out of my chair! Yikes!
